Rodent pests annoy people since time immemorial. They eat grain, flaw roots and trunks of trees and cereals, cause damage to livestock, have an illness, gnaw wire covering. It is even worse, when the rat gnaws rubber gas hose of the balloon of the stove. In short, they are really annoying, despite all scientific and technological progress. Unfortunately, mice and rats are alive and well in the village and in multistoried cities.
Let's start with one of the easiest ways of catching mice. It is available for everyone and does not require spending money. Fig. 1). Take a can and a coin. Bait is to be attached to the inner wall of the can with a sticky tape, put the can on the edge of the coin. The trap is ready. While trying the to get the bait the mouse is resting itself against the wall, as a result the coin drops and the mouse is trapped.
Fig. 2). A sort of a pot with a lid, which blocks the way to the hole, is to be buried in the garden. The tubes which lead through the hole to the pot are installed to both sides. The bottom of the pot is covered with a small amount of water and a float upon it. The trapped animals settles themself on it, if they suffer from thirst they can drink some water, then the pot should be taken away from home and the animals released.
Fig 3). The shape of the trap has the form of a hollow glass with rounded bottom and with walls of different thickness so that when empty the glass lies on the side with the bait on its bottom. When the animal grabs the bait, the center of gravity shifts and the glass rises vertically.
Fig. 4). The spring-loaded frame is traditionally kept by the safety lever with its end passed through the ear of the bait holder. The appeal is that the ear is made as a ring with a slot but not a solid ring. Fill the ring with crumb after the lever was passed through. The mouse eats the bait, releases the lever, the lever releases the frame ... with all consequences.
The author came to the idea of fixing the mirror on one or two sides of the mousetrap. Fig. 5). "The purpose of the mirror is to make the rodent see the reflection. The rodent will take his own reflection for the other rodent. The rodent rushes to the bait fearing that the reflection will seize the bait first. Actually this way of behaving is not characteristic of them under the other circumstances" says the author in the description.
Many traps work on the following principle: to catch and don't let go. One can lure with bait. And not to release one should often use constructions well-known in other spheres of technology such as the valves or single-acting doors. The typical example is a cell with two entrances figure. Fig. 6). The entries are equipped with folding combs, which easily lean up when the rodent, attracted with the bait, tries to penetrate inside the cell. After the animal enters the cell the combs go down. Now there is no way of pushing, combs will not go up.
